Global Optimism was co-founded by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac on leaving the UN, having overseen the delivery of the landmark Paris Agreement. We are a small, nimble team
dedicated to a clear mission to play our part in catalysing actions toward halving global emissions by 2030, laying the groundwork for a regenerative world where all people and nature can thrive.

Role Overview: Digital Communications Manager

We are seeking a Digital Communications Manager to drive the delivery of all aspects of
Global Optimism’s digital communications mix. This is a role that requires a combination of great organisational skills, digital know-how and analysis, plus creative delivery. You will have access to brilliant content, inspirational people, exciting partners and the chance to amplify the voices of our leaders individually and to work on collective efforts with others across the world.

This is a role for a strong digital all-rounder, who wants to make an impact in the world and knows how to use digital channels to mobilise, engage, build community and tell compelling stories. You will make an important contribution to delivering our strategy and will hold the reins on how we deliver our impact in the digital world.

your talent to amplify and direct written, graphic and video content, as well as compelling reports and inspirational strategies that excite followers, partners and collaborators to support our efforts.

You will be comfortable in planning digital strategies, ensuring best in class website user experience, researching influencer networks, optimising trends and finding innovative pathways to deploy a high volume of compelling content, supporting the narratives and stories that matter for achieving progress on tackling the climate crisis.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Campaign Strategy

  • Work closely with the Director of Strategic Communications to:

-Design effective digital communications campaigns and ongoing editorial initiatives

-Shift the conversations and the actions taken as a consequence of our podcast and other original content

-Mobilise communities that can support and benefit from our original content and campaigns

-Research, identify and organise collaborators, influencers, amplifiers and communications partners.

-Deliver influential actions through all digital channels that help to impact on the change we’re seeking to deliver.

  • Lead on research and developing channel strategies to:

-Scale social media reach

-Build supportive, engaged communities in all channels

-Drive content and opportunities that enhance visibility of our podcast and campaigns

-Implement and scale our email strategy

-Identify and implement storytelling platform/s

-Optimise use of paid and SEO activity

  • Lead on developing high impact strategies for enhancing content and usability of all channels, including social platforms, our website and other content environments

Measurement and Reporting

  • Lead on developing achievable metrics frameworks to:

-Inform quarterly social media strategies, monthly goals and weekly actions

-Enhance SEO performance against agreed short and long-term targets

-Build positive sentiment and support for our activities

  • Produce regular reports on digital activities, including identifying opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Manage digital measurement tools

Content Development and Production

  • Lead on the delivery of content for all channels that:

-Aligns with quarterly social media strategies, monthly goals and weekly actions

-Is aligned with and enhances the Voice and Brand of Global Optimism, our leaders and our podcast

  • Produce weekly and monthly editorial calendars across multiple social media channels
  • Oversee external and internal production processes for content delivery

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

-4-6 years’ experience in digital campaigns roles

-Strong working knowledge of the issues surrounding climate change communications is preferred

-Have worked globally and can demonstrate understanding of cultural differences in the use of channels

-Proven track record in strategy development, implementation, channel management, community growth, creative assets development and use of social media tools

-Excellent practical understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and emerging networks

-Skilled in delivering high quality content on deadline, with attention to detail

-Some writing and editing skills in English as first language

-Additional languages are an advantage, but not essential

-Strong organisational skills, able to demonstrate project management and processes

-Ability to produce engaging reports in written and visual forms

-Able to work in a fast-paced environment

-Able to think quickly and use initiative to solve challenges

-Competent in producing strategy documents, compelling influencer outreach and shareable toolkits for social media collaborations

-Competence in Photoshop, Premier Pro and InDesign are essential. Competence in any other design tools and programmes are an advantage.

-Experience will be required in HTML, ad serving (ideally Google Grants for non-profits), content management and email marketing tools.

-Experience with Hubspot suite is an advantage
