Fiona Macklin
Senior Advisor, Groundswell
Fiona has joined Global Optimism as a Senior Advisor to Groundswell, a joint project by the Bezos Earth Fund, Global Optimism, and the Systems Change Lab. Groundswell supports a diverse and distributed chorus of voices to shape a narrative of courage and possibility, which essentially says: it’s not too late to achieve our Paris goals.
Previously, Fiona managed the Race to Zero campaign as part of the Climate Champions' team, which included developing relationships with its 26 Partners, hosting high-level events throughout the year and at COPs, and more recently leading a Pivot Point community to publish a report calling for the dramatic acceleration from voluntary action into ground rules for the global economy. Prior to that, Fiona first joined the climate space through the UNFCCC Stakeholder Engagement team.
Fiona holds a Masters in International Development Studies from the University of Melbourne, having previously graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Bachelor's in German and Italian. Although graduating with these degrees, her time spent at University was disproportionately taken up by rowing - taking part in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race and the Sydney-Melbourne Boat Race.
