Profile
Matthew Phillips
Lead, Groundswell
Matthew leads Groundswell, a joint project by the Bezos Earth Fund, Global Optimism, and the Systems Change Lab. Groundswell supports a diverse and distributed chorus of voices to shape a narrative of courage and possibility, which essentially says: it’s not too late to achieve our Paris goals.
Elsewhere, his work has included positions at UN Climate Change, Mission 2020, and initially as an Advisor in Christiana Figueres’ original ‘groundswell unit’ in the run-up to the Paris Agreement. He also managed the Reporting & Tracking team at UN Climate Change, acting as co-Chair of the Camda community – a network of over 30 data analysts dedicated to showcasing and tracking climate actions.
Matthew was a co-Founder of Beautiful Corporations – a sustainability engagement agency he established in 2013 with Paul Dickinson. He holds a degree in Modern History from the University of St Andrews.
