This book shows us how.

Take a deep breath and decide that collectively, we can do this.
And you will play your part.
We have just entered the most consequential decade in human history. The scientific assessment of climate change suggests this can either be our final hour, or our finest. The Future We Choose is an inspiring manifesto from Global Optimism Co-Founders, Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac. It explains what’s to come, how to face it and what we can do.
Practical, optimistic and empowering, this is a book for every generation that shows us how we can move beyond the climate crisis into a thriving future.

BE PART OF THE CHANGE
Why we wrote The Future We Choose
Humanity has come together to achieve great things and solve the seemingly impossible before, and we believe if we get the tools to enough people, their optimism and momentum will catalyse many others, and we will have achieved greatness again. When we are united by a common enemy or a shared goal, it is astonishing what is achievable.
Our experience is that optimism gets things done. In the negotiations leading up to the unanimous signing of the Paris Agreement, shifting to optimism after years of failed treaties convinced 195 countries that it was possible to enter a complex, binding international agreement. We’ve learned that Optimism is a strategy to change the world, not just a personal attitude.
It is 5 years since the Paris Agreement was signed and its historic achievement is in serious danger. We must act now to realise its promise. All of the scenarios set out by governments to limit climate change to 1.5 degrees show a global peak in emissions this year, and halving emissions in the next 10 years. We stand at a moment of unprecedented consequence. Every day is a chance that will not come again.
